CLAIRE CORNIELJE

Claire Cornielje is the Director of Star Vocals.  She began her career studying Classical Voice and Piano at Newcastle College, where she acquired a First Class Graduate Diploma,  and went on to perform in venues around the world as a singer/pianist.  Claire has performed in the Middle East, China, Thailand, Spain and Morocco in hotel-chains such as the Mandarin Oriental, Phuket,  Forte Grande in Abu Dhabi, the Holiday Inn, Evason, Sheraton Grande in Phuket and the Guangdong Regency in Beijing.  She has performed for President Putin, Prime Minister Thaksin and has given several Opera recitals, among others for Gulu Lalavani at the Royal Phuket Marina celebrating the launching of two super-yachts.

In addition to her performing career, Claire has worked as a Music Educator for the last 15 years.  She was Director of Music at Dulwich International College in Phuket and went on to teach at the Sotogrande School in Southern Spain, whilst also running a musical theatre training company for children called Showstoppers.  In 2007 Claire returned to Phuket to take up the role of Head of Faculty for Performing Arts.  She has directed and produced many shows including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Grease, Cinderella, The Wizard of Oz and many more in both schools and theatres.

Her greatest passion lies in vocal coaching and finding ways of allowing students to express themselves through their voices.  She has trained a number of students who have gone on to become professional, including Chin Indracusin (now a celebrity in Thailand) and Geneva Lane of X-Factor Belle Amie, 2010.

It is Claire’s intention to open up a non-exclusive environment for children and teenagers to work on the music they love. Now returning to the North East of England she offers a solid, grounded option for vocal coaching which focuses on developing confidence, while simultaneously providing options for students wanting to take their singing further.

Claire has developed many contacts in the Vocal Coaching world over the years and will be collaborating with other seasoned professionals to deliver workshops both in the UK and abroad.
